about the press

habenicht press is edited and published by David Hadbawnik, a poet and performer currently living in San Marcos, TX, pursuing an MFA in poetry. The mission of the press is to publish work by young poets who haven't yet had a full-length book out, as well as small gems by more established poets which haven't found another outlet. The books are produced in small editions, most are hand-sewn with letter-press covers, and sold for $5-7. With this idea in mind, habenicht press has so far printed debut books for Sarah Peters, a poet living in Detroit, MI, and Mytili Jagannathan, a poet living in Philadelphia, PA. It has also printed a chapbook of a haibun journal by Diane di Prima. Latest publication is Notes No Answer, by Dale Smith (spring 2005); Anniversary by Joseph Lease is due out by fall 2006.
