In their disastrous bodies
or “in there,†the cave
that begins as a mouth
the cat’s decorated to look
like a club no mouse
could resist
and tongues out a long
red carpet and neon eyes
announce it this is how
the mouse eats the cat
like in all of those old ’toons
and we laugh but there’s something
that reminds us we’re all
ancient land animals.
