Batting .400

Just had to follow up on a discussion from a previous thread re. .400 hitters in baseball. Sports Illustrated has put together a slide show of the last 15 hitters to surpass the mark late into the season.

    Wow, three Rockies on that list. That tells you something about the atmosphere of their park.

    I just don’t see Chipper Jones as the guy to do it. He’s been pretty injury prone the last few years. Plus his name is Chipper. Not very historic.

    he’s at what, .420 now? and it’s june 6. i agree, a switch-hitter with power who’s past his prime is not who i expect to crack .400.

    what’s the over-under on him dipping below the mark? i say it’s the all-star break.
